The east of Hefei is quite far from USTC, around 20 km. But it's quite accessible by subway or taxi. I went to Nanfei River around 3 times. You can take the subway to Nanmatou Park. The roads along the river are neatly paved and there are a lot of people there in spring.

The red bridge in the distance

The place only shows its magnificience at night. Continue east along the river and it's mostly dark except for distant apartment and construction lights. You can cycle while listening to rock music out loud, feeling transcendant.

A cable-stayed bridge under construction

If you blur the camera

It was quite dreamy as I went along the river. The distant apartment lights from across the river

Bursts of yellow lights under the bridge

And there is the high-speed train crossing the bridge

Turn south from the river and I arrived at Motan Park. The park closes early and the you have to pay to get in I think. But since it already closed I just went in somewhere between the fences.

Don't look like a lot of people in here at night and you can cycle a bit around the park.

Turn north from the river and it's mostly new neighborhoods. On those cloudless days the sky turns into a deep blue when the sun sets and the crescent moon 🌙 appears
Luna

Місяць на небі, зіроньки сяють,
Тихо по морю човен пливе.
В човні дівчина пісню співає,
А козак чує - серденько мре.
(Місяць на небі, Ukrainian Folk Song)
The moon is in the sky, the stars are shining,
A boat is sailing quietly across the sea.
In the boat, a girl is singing a song,
And the Cossack hears - his heart is pounding.
(The moon in the sky)
Yaohai Park (瑶海湿地公园)
Lots of people walking around at night even with few lights.

Someone had a kite with lights on it, really breathtaking, stretching into the evening sky.
