Feixi (West Fei) is just south of USTC. You can cycle there easily from USTC's high-tech campus. I went there so many times and it's my favorite cycling route. Despite being named "West Fei", actually it is in the south.

Grab a bike and head down south along Chuangxin Road, and there you are at Pai River. I like looking at bridges, rivers, and empty spaces.

Just look at the grasses and the sun!

At night

It's a very smooth ride all the way, and heading east, there are some more bridges, some for high-speed trains. You can see trains on the bridges!

Most of the horizon is empty. It's either green grasses or some decaying yellow plants. You can fully appreciate the setting sun.

A red bridge

Then you arrive at the huge shopping mall, though I don't really care about it. There is a pizza store inside.

At night the bridges light up

The white lights in the distance from the apartment complexes

Cycle further, and the road becomes very dark and isolated at night, with some dim nights from the construction sight on the other side of the river. It is the perfect place to listen to some rock or folk music out loud and feel a sense of isolation from the world.

Beyond the lake, Feixi divides sharply into two parts somewhere vertically along Jinzhai Road and horizontally along Zhanxia Road. On one side are the new apartments, modern shopping malls and hotels, and on the other side, dirty, old low rises and people spitting. If you head south a bit more near the Sunflower Park region but don't go into the park, there isn't much to see again. It's just isolated roads with villages nearby or under heavy construction.
